Bempedoic acid acts as an adenosine triphosphate-citrate lyase (ACL) inhibitor, targeting a key enzyme involved in the cholesterol biosynthesis pathway upstream of HMG-CoA reductase. By inhibiting ACL, Nudoic effectively reduces low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels, thereby contributing to cardiovascular risk reduction in patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) or heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH).
