The Normalip 5mg Tablet contains the active ingredient Rosuvastatin, a potent statin used in the management of hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia. This medication works by inhibiting the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, thereby reducing the production of cholesterol in the liver. It is indicated for adults with primary hypercholesterolemia or mixed dyslipidemia as an adjunct to diet when the response to diet and other non-pharmacological treatments is inadequate.
The recommended dose is 5mg daily, taken in the evening, although the dosage may be adjusted based on individual patient response and tolerability. Common adverse effects include myalgia, headache, and gastrointestinal symptoms. Regular monitoring of liver function and creatinine kinase levels is recommended during treatment. Patients should be advised to report any symptoms of myopathy or rhabdomyolysis.
