Medical applications
Montospan LC 5mg/10mg Tablet is a fixed-dose combination of Levocetirizine (5mg) and Montelukast (10mg), a novel oral antihistamine and a leukotriene receptor antagonist, respectively. This tablet is indicated for the treatment of allergic rhinitis, asthma, and chronic idiopathic urticaria in adults and adolescents. Levocetirizine, a selective histamine H1 receptor antagonist, exhibits potent antihistaminic activity, effectively relieving symptoms such as nasal congestion, rhinorrhea, sneezing, and itching. Montelukast, a potent cysteinyl leukotriene (CysLT1) receptor antagonist, inhibits the cysteinyl leukotriene-mediated inflammatory response, thereby reducing bronchospasm, airway constriction, and mucus production. The combination of these two agents in Montospan LC provides a synergistic effect in addressing multiple facets of allergic diseases, including allergic rhinitis, asthma, and chronic idiopathic urticaria.
