Levocetirizine selectively antagonizes H1 histamine receptors, inhibiting the effects of histamine in allergic responses.
Montelukast selectively antagonizes leukotriene receptors, inhibiting their effects on bronchoconstriction and inflammation.
Medical applications
Montipar-L Tablet is a combination medication containing levocetirizine (5mg) and montelukast (10mg) indicated for the relief of symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis and/or asthma. The levocetirizine component exerts its antihistaminic effects by selectively antagonizing the histamine H1 receptor, while the montelukast component inhibits the leukotriene D4 receptor, thereby blocking the cysteinyl leukotriene-mediated bronchoconstriction. This dual-action mechanism provides rapid and effective relief from symptoms such as nasal congestion, sneezing, runny nose, itchy and watery eyes, and wheezing. In patients with asthma, Montipar-L Tablet has been shown to improve lung function and reduce the frequency and severity of asthma exacerbations. The recommended dose is one tablet once daily, which can be taken with or without food. Montipar-L Tablet is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its components, as well as in those with severe kidney or liver impairment. As with all medications, patients should be monitored for potential adverse effects and dosage adjustments made as necessary.
How can I give Montipar-L Tablet to my child? Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Montipar-L Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
