Monte L 5mg/10mg Tablet is a prescription medication used to treat symptoms of chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) and allergic rhinitis. It is a combination of levocetirizine and montelukast, a histamine-1 receptor antagonist and a leukotriene receptor antagonist, respectively. The product contains 5mg of levocetirizine, a potent and selective H1-receptor antagonist that provides fast and sustained relief from allergic symptoms such as itching, hives, and pruritus, and 10mg of montelukast, a potent and selective antagonist of the CysLT1 receptor, which is believed to be the primary receptor responsible for the allergic inflammatory response in asthma and allergic rhinitis. Monte L 5mg/10mg Tablet is indicated for the treatment of patients 12 years of age and older with CSU and/or allergic rhinitis. It is administered orally once daily and should be taken with or without food. The product is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to levocetirizine or montelukast, and in patients with active kidney or liver disease.
