Mon XL 5mg/10mg Tablet is a combination medication containing levocetirizine 5mg and montelukast 10mg, indicated for the treatment of allergic rhinitis, urticaria, and chronic idiopathic spasmodic cough. Levocetirizine, an antihistamine, inhibits the release of histamine from mast cells, thereby reducing symptoms of allergic rhinitis, such as rhinorrhea, conjunctivitis, and pruritus. Montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist, blocks the action of cysteinyl leukotrienes, which are potent mediators of bronchoconstriction and inflammation, thereby reducing symptoms of asthma and allergic rhinitis, such as wheezing, coughing, and sneezing. The combination of levocetirizine and montelukast provides synergistic benefits, offering effective relief from symptoms of allergic rhinitis and urticaria. Patients should be advised to use the medication as directed and to consult a healthcare professional if symptoms worsen or if they experience any adverse reactions.
