Domperidone antagonizes dopamine D2 receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone, inhibiting nausea and vomiting.
Medical applications
Micid DSR Capsule is a combination medicine containing domperidone (30mg) and rabeprazole (20mg) in a single capsule. It is indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and symptoms of gastroprosis, such as nausea, vomiting, and bloating. Domperidone, a dopamine receptor antagonist, helps to alleviate symptoms of gastroprosis by increasing the movement of gastric contents and reducing gastric stasis. Rabeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor, effectively suppresses gastric acid secretion, thereby reducing the severity of GERD symptoms like heartburn and regurgitation. The combined action of these two medications provides effective relief from symptoms of GERD and gastroprosis. The capsules are administered orally once or twice daily, depending on the patient's response to treatment. The recommended dose range is 30-60mg of domperidone and 20-40mg of rabeprazole per day. Micid DSR Capsule is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to either active ingredient, and its use is also cautioned in patients with certain cardiac conditions, such as QT prolongation, and in those taking medications that may prolong QT interval.
