Merosya 7 Tablet contains Teriflunomide 7 mg, an immunomodulatory agent indicated for the treatment of relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS). Teriflunomide acts by inhibiting dihydroorotate dehydrogenase, a key mitochondrial enzyme involved in pyrimidine synthesis, thereby reducing the proliferation of activated lymphocytes implicated in the pathogenesis of MS. This mechanism helps to decrease the frequency of clinical exacerbations and delay the progression of physical disability associated with the disease.

Merosya 7 is administered orally, typically once daily, and is suitable for long-term management of MS. Clinical trials have demonstrated its efficacy in reducing relapse rates and MRI lesion activity. Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances, such as nausea and diarrhea, elevated liver enzymes, alopecia, and headache. Due to its teratogenic potential, Merosya 7 is contraindicated in pregnancy and in women of childbearing potential not using effective contraception.
Liver function tests and complete blood counts should be monitored regularly during therapy to detect potential hepatotoxicity and hematological abnormalities. Patients should be advised regarding potential drug interactions, including with immunosuppressants and live vaccines.
