Mefenamic Acid, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), exerts its therapeutic effects by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins responsible for pain, inflammation, and fever.

Paracetamol, an analgesic and antipyretic agent, acts centrally to alleviate pain and reduce fever through inhibition of the prostaglandin synthesis pathway in the central nervous system. This combination is indicated for the management of mild to moderate pain associated with conditions such as musculoskeletal disorders, dental pain, dysmenorrhea, and postoperative pain. The dual mechanism provides enhanced analgesic efficacy while allowing for lower doses of each component, potentially minimizing adverse effects.
Mefniwel P should be used with caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal ulcers, bleeding disorders, hepatic or renal impairment, and hypersensitivity to NSAIDs or paracetamol. It is contraindicated during the third trimester of pregnancy and in patients with severe hepatic or renal dysfunction. Adverse effects may include gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, dizziness, and hypersensitivity reactions.
