Mefnacid-P Syrup is a combination analgesic and antipyretic formulation containing Mefenamic Acid (100 mg/5 ml) and Paracetamol (250 mg/5 ml). It is indicated for the relief of mild to moderate pain and fever associated with various conditions such as headache, dental pain, musculoskeletal discomfort, dysmenorrhea, and febrile illnesses. Mefenamic Acid, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), exerts its effect by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes, thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis which mediates inflammation and pain. Paracetamol provides analgesic and antipyretic effects through central inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis, complementing the action of Mefenamic Acid. The syrup formulation facilitates ease of administration, particularly in pediatric and geriatric populations who may have difficulty swallowing tablets.
