Medtop Tablet contains Pantoprazole 40 mg, a proton pump inhibitor used primarily to reduce gastric acid secretion in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and other conditions involving excessive stomach acid production. Pantoprazole acts by selectively inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system located on the gastric parietal cells, thereby suppressing the final step of acid production. This reduction in gastric acidity promotes healing of acid-related lesions and alleviates symptoms such as heartburn, acid regurgitation, and epigastric pain. Medtop Tablet is indicated for short-term treatment of erosive esophagitis and maintenance of healing, as well as for long-term management of pathological hypersecretory conditions. It is generally well-tolerated, with common adverse effects including headache, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and dizziness. Caution is advised in patients with liver impairment, and it should be used under medical supervision in such cases. Medtop Tablet may interact with drugs requiring an acidic environment for absorption, such as ketoconazole and atazanavir. It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pantoprazole or other proton pump inhibitors.
