Medidin Gel contains Dinoprostone 0.5 mg, a synthetic prostaglandin E2 analogue used primarily for cervical ripening and induction of labor in pregnant women at term. The active ingredient, Dinoprostone, acts by softening and dilating the cervix, facilitating labor onset by stimulating uterine contractions. Medidin Gel is indicated in obstetric practice for pre-induction cervical ripening when the cervix is unfavorable, as well as for induction of labor in cases where continuation of pregnancy poses a risk to the mother or fetus.

The gel formulation allows for controlled, localized application, minimizing systemic exposure and adverse effects. Administration should be performed under strict medical supervision, with continuous fetal and uterine monitoring to detect hyperstimulation or fetal distress. Contraindications include hypersensitivity to prostaglandins, abnormal fetal presentation, cephalopelvic disproportion, and previous uterine surgery such as cesarean section due to increased risk of uterine rupture.
Common adverse effects may include uterine hyperstimulation, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and fever. Medidin Gel should be used with caution in patients with asthma or cardiovascular disorders.
