Maxtra Gargle contains Benzydamine hydrochloride 0.15% w/v, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent with analgesic and local anesthetic properties, indicated for the symptomatic relief of inflammatory conditions of the oral cavity and oropharynx. It is effective in reducing pain, soreness, and irritation associated with pharyngitis, tonsillitis, stomatitis, gingivitis, and other inflammatory conditions of the mouth and throat. The mechanism of action involves inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines and stabilization of cellular membranes, thereby reducing inflammation and providing analgesia. Maxtra Gargle is intended for topical use as a mouthwash and gargle; it should be diluted according to the prescribed instructions and used several times daily, typically after meals and before bedtime. The product is generally well tolerated, with minimal systemic absorption; however, occasional local adverse effects such as stinging, burning sensation, or numbness may occur. It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Benzydamine or any excipients. Caution is advised in patients with mucosal ulcerations or open wounds. Maxtra Gargle should not be swallowed and is not recommended for use in children under 12 years without medical supervision.
