It is also prescribed as adjunctive therapy for partial-onset seizures in adults and for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder in certain regions. Pregabalin acts by binding to the alpha-2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system, thereby modulating calcium influx and reducing the release of excitatory neurotransmitters such as glutamate, norepinephrine, and substance P.
