Macorate CR 500 Tablet contains Magnesium Valproate 500 mg, an anticonvulsant and mood-stabilizing agent primarily used in the management of epilepsy and bipolar disorder. Magnesium Valproate acts by increasing the availability of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, thereby stabilizing neuronal activity and preventing seizure propagation. The controlled-release formulation ensures a gradual and sustained release of the active ingredient, promoting stable plasma concentrations and improving patient compliance by reducing dosing frequency. Macorate CR 500 is indicated for the treatment of generalized and partial seizures, including absence seizures, as well as for the prophylaxis of manic episodes in bipolar disorder. It may also be used off-label for other neurological conditions as determined by a physician. Common side effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, and indigestion, as well as dizziness and tremors.
