Macorate CR 300 Tablet contains Magnesium Valproate 300 mg, an anticonvulsant and mood-stabilizing agent primarily used in the management of epilepsy, bipolar disorder, and migraine prophylaxis. Magnesium Valproate acts by increasing gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) levels in the brain, thereby exerting an inhibitory effect on neuronal excitability and preventing seizure activity. The controlled-release formulation ensures a sustained therapeutic effect, improving patient compliance by reducing dosing frequency and minimizing peak-related side effects. Macorate CR 300 is indicated for the treatment of various seizure types including absence seizures, complex partial seizures, and generalized tonic-clonic seizures. Additionally, it is effective in stabilizing mood swings in bipolar disorder and reducing the frequency and severity of migraine attacks. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, dizziness, tremor, and weight gain; serious but rare side effects include hepatotoxicity and pancreatitis.
