Luporal Capsule

Uracil enhances the efficacy of Tegafur by competitively inhibiting dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPD), the enzyme responsible for 5-FU degradation, resulting in prolonged systemic exposure to 5-FU and improved therapeutic outcomes. Luporal Capsule is administered orally, offering a convenient alternative to intravenous 5-FU therapy. The dosage and treatment duration should be individualized based on the patient’s clinical condition, tumor type, and response to therapy.

Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and mucositis, as well as hematological toxicities like leukopenia and anemia. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic or renal impairment, and regular monitoring of blood counts and liver function tests is recommended during treatment.
