Gentamicin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic, provides broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against gram-negative and some gram-positive organisms, effectively targeting secondary bacterial infections. Miconazole, an imidazole antifungal agent, inhibits ergosterol synthesis in fungal cell membranes, offering therapeutic efficacy against dermatophytes, yeasts, and other fungal pathogens.
The combination cream is indicated for the treatment of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses where bacterial and fungal infections coexist or are at risk of superinfection. Lupiderm GM Cream should be applied topically in a thin layer to the affected area, typically once or twice daily, as directed by a healthcare professional. Caution is advised in prolonged use due to potential corticosteroid-related adverse effects such as skin atrophy.
