Lowsterol 20 Capsule is a combination medication containing Aspirin (75 mg), Rosuvastatin (20 mg), and Clopidogrel (75 mg), formulated to manage cardiovascular risk factors in patients with a history of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease or those at high risk. Aspirin acts as an antiplatelet agent by irreversibly inhibiting cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1), thereby reducing thromboxane A2 production and platelet aggregation, which helps prevent arterial thrombosis. Rosuvastatin, a potent HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, lowers low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels and exerts pleiotropic effects including improving endothelial function and stabilizing atherosclerotic plaques. Clopidogrel, another antiplatelet agent, selectively inhibits the ADP P2Y12 receptor on platelets, further reducing platelet activation and aggregation. The synergistic action of these agents makes Lowsterol 20 effective in reducing the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and other cardiovascular events in patients with established coronary artery disease or peripheral arterial disease. It is indicated for secondary prevention in patients requiring both lipid-lowering and antithrombotic therapy.
