Lopid Capsule contains Gemfibrozil 300 mg, a lipid-regulating agent primarily indicated for the treatment of hyperlipidemia and hypertriglyceridemia. Gemfibrozil belongs to the fibrate class of medications and functions by activating peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs), which leads to increased lipolysis and elimination of triglyceride-rich particles from plasma. Lopid is effective in reducing elevated levels of very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) and triglycerides, while moderately increasing high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. It is commonly prescribed for patients with primary hyperlipidemia or mixed dyslipidemia who have not responded adequately to diet modification and lifestyle changes alone. The recommended dosage is typically 600 mg daily, divided into two doses, taken 30 minutes before morning and evening meals.
