Loparet is indicated for the treatment of acute nonspecific diarrhea, chronic diarrhea associated with inflammatory bowel disease, and to reduce the volume of discharge in patients with ileostomies. The recommended dosage varies depending on the severity and type of diarrhea but typically starts with an initial dose followed by maintenance doses as needed, not exceeding the maximum daily limit to avoid adverse effects.
Loparet is generally well-tolerated; however, caution is advised in patients with underlying gastrointestinal conditions such as ulcerative colitis or bacterial enterocolitis. Adverse effects may include constipation, dizziness, and abdominal discomfort.
