Looz Enema

Looz Enema is indicated for the relief of acute and chronic constipation, especially in patients who require rapid evacuation of the bowel. It is also utilized in the management of hepatic encephalopathy by reducing blood ammonia levels through acidification of the colon content, which promotes the conversion of ammonia to ammonium ions that are less readily absorbed. The enema formulation allows for direct administration into the rectum, providing a localized effect with rapid onset of action, typically within 15 to 30 minutes.

Looz Enema should be used with caution in patients with abdominal pain of unknown origin, intestinal obstruction, or hypersensitivity to lactulose. Common adverse effects include abdominal discomfort, flatulence, and diarrhea. It is contraindicated in cases of galactosemia and should be used under medical supervision to avoid electrolyte imbalance and dehydration.
