Atorvastatin, a selective HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, effectively reduces low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), total cholesterol, and triglycerides while modestly increasing high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C). Fenofibrate, a fibric acid derivative, primarily decreases triglyceride levels and increases HDL-C by activating peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα), enhancing lipolysis and elimination of triglyceride-rich particles.
