LIPICURE 60 Tablet contains Atorvastatin 60 mg, a potent lipid-lowering agent belonging to the statin class. It is primarily indicated for the management of hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia to reduce elevated total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), apolipoprotein B, and triglycerides, while increasing high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C). Atorvastatin exerts its effect by selectively inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, the enzyme responsible for the conversion of HMG-CoA to mevalonate, a crucial early step in cholesterol biosynthesis. This inhibition leads to increased expression of LDL receptors on hepatocyte surfaces, enhancing clearance of LDL particles from the bloodstream. Lipicure 60 is indicated for primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease in patients with risk factors such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, or established atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
