Levotac-M Tablet is a combination medication containing Levocetirizine 5mg and Montelukast 10mg, indicated for the management of allergic conditions such as allergic rhinitis and chronic urticaria. Levocetirizine is a third-generation non-sedating antihistamine that selectively inhibits peripheral H1 receptors, thereby reducing symptoms like sneezing, nasal congestion, itching, and rhinorrhea. Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that blocks the action of leukotrienes, inflammatory mediators involved in bronchoconstriction, mucus production, and airway edema, making it effective in controlling asthma and allergic rhinitis symptoms. The synergistic action of these two agents provides comprehensive relief from allergic manifestations by targeting different inflammatory pathways. Levotac-M is generally well tolerated, with a low incidence of adverse effects such as headache, fatigue, dry mouth, or gastrointestinal discomfort. It is recommended to be taken orally once daily, preferably in the evening, with or without food. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic or renal impairment, and it should be used under medical supervision in pediatric and elderly populations.
