Levocetirizine, a third-generation non-sedating antihistamine, selectively inhibits peripheral H1 receptors, thereby reducing symptoms like sneezing, nasal congestion, itching, and rhinorrhea by preventing histamine-mediated allergic responses. Montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist, blocks cysteinyl leukotriene receptors (CysLT1), which play a significant role in airway inflammation and bronchoconstriction, thus providing additional relief in allergic rhinitis and asthma by decreasing airway edema and mucus secretion. The synergistic action of these two agents offers comprehensive control over allergic symptoms by targeting multiple inflammatory pathways.
