Levilex 500 Tablet contains Levetiracetam 500 mg, an antiepileptic agent indicated for the treatment of partial onset seizures, myoclonic seizures, and primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures in adults and pediatric patients. Levetiracetam’s exact mechanism of action is not fully understood; however, it is believed to modulate synaptic neurotransmitter release through binding to the synaptic vesicle protein SV2A, thereby reducing neuronal excitability and seizure propagation. Levilex 500 is typically prescribed as adjunctive therapy but may also be used as monotherapy depending on clinical judgment. The tablet is administered orally, with dosage individualized based on patient age, renal function, and therapeutic response. Common adverse effects include somnolence, dizziness, headache, and fatigue, while serious reactions such as behavioral changes, hypersensitivity, or hematologic abnormalities require prompt evaluation.
