Leukant LC Tablet contains Levocetirizine 5mg and Montelukast 10mg, combining an antihistamine and a leukotriene receptor antagonist to provide effective management of allergic conditions. Levocetirizine, a third-generation non-sedating antihistamine, selectively inhibits peripheral H1 receptors, thereby reducing symptoms such as rhinorrhea, sneezing, itching, and urticaria associated with allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria. Montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist, blocks cysteinyl leukotriene receptors, preventing bronchoconstriction, inflammation, and mucus production, making it beneficial in the prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma and allergic rhinitis. The combination therapy offers a synergistic effect by targeting multiple pathways involved in allergic responses, improving symptom control and patient compliance. Leukant LC is indicated for the relief of symptoms related to seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, chronic urticaria, and as adjunctive therapy in asthma management. It is generally well tolerated; however, patients should be monitored for potential side effects such as headache, fatigue, gastrointestinal disturbances, and rare neuropsychiatric events associated with Montelukast.
