Additionally, its central dopaminergic antagonism contributes to its efficacy in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia, particularly in cases resistant to conventional therapies. The chewable formulation facilitates ease of administration, improving patient compliance, especially in populations with swallowing difficulties. Lesuride MPS is generally well tolerated; however, adverse effects may include extrapyramidal symptoms, hyperprolactinemia, and gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea and diarrhea.
It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to sulpiride or related compounds, severe renal impairment, and in those with prolactin-dependent tumors.
