Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide acts as a centrally acting antitussive, suppressing the cough reflex by affecting the cough center in the medulla oblongata, thereby reducing the frequency and intensity of cough. Leerex-DX Syrup is indicated for the treatment of cough associated with upper respiratory tract infections, allergic rhinitis, and other conditions presenting with cough and allergic manifestations.
It is suitable for use in adults and children above the recommended age, with dosage adjusted accordingly. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to either component, and it should be used with care in individuals with respiratory depression, glaucoma, or prostatic hypertrophy. Concomitant use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or other central nervous system depressants should be avoided.
