Phenylephrine, a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist, serves as a decongestant by constricting blood vessels in the nasal passages, thereby reducing swelling and improving airflow. Caffeine is included to counteract the sedative effects of Diphenhydramine and to enhance alertness.
