Lcm Tablet contains Levocetirizine 5mg, a third-generation non-sedative antihistamine used primarily for the relief of allergic symptoms. Levocetirizine is the active enantiomer of cetirizine and functions as a selective antagonist of peripheral H1 histamine receptors, effectively reducing the effects of histamine in allergic conditions. This medication is indicated for the treatment of allergic rhinitis, including seasonal and perennial types, as well as chronic idiopathic urticaria characterized by itching and hives. Lcm Tablet provides rapid onset of action with sustained symptom control over 24 hours, improving patient compliance and quality of life. It is generally well tolerated, with a low incidence of sedation or anticholinergic side effects compared to first-generation antihistamines. The recommended adult dose is one tablet (5mg) once daily, preferably in the evening, with dose adjustments required in patients with renal impairment. Caution is advised in patients with severe renal dysfunction and in those with a history of hypersensitivity to levocetirizine or cetirizine. Lcm Tablet should be used under medical supervision, and patients are advised to avoid alcohol or other CNS depressants during treatment.
