Additionally, in hepatic encephalopathy, Lactulose reduces blood ammonia levels by converting ammonia to ammonium ions in the colon, which are less readily absorbed, thus helping to prevent neurotoxic effects. Laxday Syrup is typically administered orally, with dosage individualized based on patient response and clinical condition. It is generally well tolerated; however, common side effects may include flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea if overdosed.
