The drug is not significantly metabolized in the liver and is excreted unchanged via the kidneys, necessitating dosage adjustments in patients with renal impairment. Common adverse effects include dizziness, somnolence, peripheral edema, and fatigue, which are generally dose-dependent and tend to diminish over time.
