Lanzolex Syrup is a combination medication formulated to provide symptomatic relief from upper respiratory tract conditions such as common cold, allergic rhinitis, and cough associated with minor throat and bronchial irritation. Each 5 ml of syrup contains Phenylephrine 5 mg, a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist that acts as a nasal decongestant by constricting dilated blood vessels in the nasal mucosa, thereby reducing nasal congestion. Chlorpheniramine Maleate 2 mg, an antihistamine with anticholinergic properties, helps alleviate allergy symptoms including sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes by blocking H1 histamine receptors. Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide 10 mg serves as a centrally acting antitussive agent that suppresses the cough reflex by acting on the medullary cough center without causing respiratory depression. Lanzolex Syrup is indicated for temporary relief of nasal congestion, allergic symptoms, and non-productive cough. It should be used with caution in patients with hypertension, glaucoma, or hyperthyroidism and is contraindicated in individuals hypersensitive to any of its components.
