Lamotrigine acts by stabilizing neuronal membranes through inhibition of voltage-sensitive sodium channels, thereby modulating the release of excitatory neurotransmitters such as glutamate and aspartate. This mechanism helps reduce the frequency and severity of seizures in patients with partial seizures, generalized tonic-clonic seizures, and seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.

Additionally, Lamizec 100 Tablet DT is effective in the maintenance treatment of bipolar disorder, particularly in delaying the occurrence of mood episodes in adults. The orally disintegrating tablet formulation facilitates ease of administration, especially for patients with swallowing difficulties. Lamotrigine should be initiated at a low dose and titrated gradually to minimize the risk of serious skin reactions, including Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis.
Common adverse effects may include dizziness, headache, blurred vision, nausea, and rash. Lamizec 100 Tablet DT is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to lamotrigine or any excipients.
