Lamitor OD 200 Tablet SR is a sustained-release formulation designed to provide a consistent plasma concentration, improving patient compliance by allowing once-daily dosing. It is effective in treating various types of seizures, including partial seizures, generalized tonic-clonic seizures, and seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. Additionally, Lamotrigine is utilized as a mood stabilizer in bipolar disorder to delay the occurrence of mood episodes.
The medication should be initiated at a low dose with gradual titration to minimize the risk of serious skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
