Lamifin Dusting Powder contains Terbinafine 1% w/w, an antifungal agent belonging to the allylamine class, effective in the treatment of superficial fungal infections of the skin. Terbinafine exerts its action by inhibiting the enzyme squalene epoxidase, a key component in the biosynthesis of ergosterol, an essential sterol in fungal cell membranes. This inhibition results in the accumulation of squalene within fungal cells, leading to cell membrane disruption and ultimately fungal cell death. Lamifin Dusting Powder is indicated for the management of dermatophytosis, including tinea pedis (athlete’s foot), tinea cruris (jock itch), and tinea corporis (ringworm), as well as candidal infections of the skin. The dusting powder formulation allows for ease of application, promoting absorption and providing a drying effect that helps reduce moisture in affected areas, thereby inhibiting fungal growth. It is generally well tolerated with minimal adverse effects; however, occasional local irritation or allergic reactions may occur. Lamifin Dusting Powder should be applied to the affected area once or twice daily, as directed by a healthcare professional, and treatment should be continued for the full prescribed duration to prevent recurrence.
