Lam-Plus Tablet is a combination medication containing Alprazolam 0.25 mg and Propranolol 20 mg, designed for the management of anxiety disorders and associated somatic symptoms. Alprazolam, a short-acting benzodiazepine, exerts anxiolytic, sedative, and muscle-relaxant effects by enhancing the activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the central nervous system, thereby reducing excessive neuronal excitability. Propranolol, a non-selective beta-adrenergic blocker, mitigates physical manifestations of anxiety such as tachycardia, tremors, and hypertension by blocking beta-1 and beta-2 adrenergic receptors. The synergistic action of these agents provides both psychological and physiological relief from anxiety symptoms. Lam-Plus is indicated for generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and performance anxiety, particularly when accompanied by cardiovascular symptoms. It should be used under medical supervision due to potential side effects including drowsiness, dizziness, hypotension, bradycardia, and the risk of dependence associated with Alprazolam.
