Domperidone, a peripheral dopamine D2 receptor antagonist, enhances gastrointestinal motility and accelerates gastric emptying, which helps alleviate symptoms of nausea, vomiting, bloating, and gastric stasis. The synergistic action of these two agents makes Lafaxid-D particularly beneficial in patients experiencing dyspeptic symptoms accompanied by delayed gastric emptying or motility disturbances.
This combination therapy improves symptomatic relief and promotes mucosal healing by reducing acid secretion and enhancing gastrointestinal motility. Lafaxid-D is generally well tolerated; however, it should be used with caution in patients with known hypersensitivity to either component, underlying cardiac conditions, or those taking medications that may prolong the QT interval.
