Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide acts centrally on the medullary cough center to suppress the cough reflex without causing significant sedation or respiratory depression. Kuftive-DX Syrup is particularly useful in managing dry, non-productive cough accompanied by allergic symptoms. It is recommended for use in adults and children above the age specified in the product guidelines, with dosing adjusted accordingly.
Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to either component, respiratory conditions such as asthma, or concurrent use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs). Common adverse effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, and gastrointestinal disturbances.
