Ketoprin Cream contains Ketoconazole 2% w/w, an imidazole antifungal agent effective against a broad spectrum of fungal infections. It is primarily indicated for the topical treatment of superficial mycoses including dermatophytosis, candidiasis, and pityriasis versicolor. Ketoconazole exerts its antifungal action by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, leading to increased membrane permeability and ultimately fungal cell death. Ketoprin Cream is applied once or twice daily to the affected area after cleansing and drying the skin, with the duration of treatment typically ranging from 2 to 4 weeks depending on the infection type and severity. It is well tolerated, with minimal systemic absorption, thereby reducing the risk of systemic side effects. Common adverse reactions may include mild local irritation, itching, or burning sensation at the application site. Patients should avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes and discontinue use if hypersensitivity reactions occur. Ketoprin Cream should be used under medical supervision, especially in cases of extensive or resistant infections, and is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to ketoconazole or any of the cream’s excipients.
