Ketofine-B Cream is a topical formulation combining Beclometasone dipropionate (0.025% w/w), a potent corticosteroid, with Ketoconazole (2% w/w), an effective antifungal agent. This combination is designed for the treatment of inflammatory and fungal skin conditions, providing both anti-inflammatory and antifungal effects. Beclometasone exerts its therapeutic action by inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators, thereby reducing erythema, edema, and pruritus associated with dermatoses. Ketoconazole acts by disrupting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, leading to fungal cell death. Ketofine-B Cream is indicated for dermatophytoses, candidiasis, pityriasis versicolor, and other superficial fungal infections complicated by inflammation. It is also useful in managing inflammatory dermatoses with secondary fungal infections. The cream should be applied topically to the affected area once or twice daily as directed by a healthcare professional. Prolonged use should be avoided to minimize potential corticosteroid-related adverse effects such as skin atrophy, striae, and telangiectasia. Use with caution in sensitive skin areas and avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Ketofine-B Cream is contraindicated in viral infections, tuberculosis of the skin, and hypersensitivity to any component.
