This combination is indicated for the treatment of inflammatory dermatoses complicated by fungal infections, such as seborrheic dermatitis and certain forms of eczema with secondary fungal involvement. Beclometasone exerts anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects by modulating the release of inflammatory mediators, thereby reducing redness, swelling, and itching. Ketoconazole, an imidazole antifungal, inhibits ergosterol synthesis in fungal cell membranes, leading to increased membrane permeability and fungal cell death. The synergistic action of these agents provides effective relief from inflammation while simultaneously eradicating fungal pathogens. Keto B Cream is applied topically to the affected area once or twice daily, as directed by a healthcare professional. It is important to avoid prolonged use to minimize the risk of corticosteroid-related side effects such as skin atrophy, striae, and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis suppression. Contraindications include hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation and viral or tuberculous skin infections. Use with caution in pediatric and elderly patients.
