It is primarily indicated for the topical treatment of superficial mycoses including dermatophytosis, pityriasis versicolor, and candidiasis of the skin. Ketoconazole acts by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, thereby disrupting membrane integrity and leading to fungal cell death. The lotion formulation allows for easy application and rapid absorption into the affected skin areas, providing targeted antifungal activity with minimal systemic exposure. Keticon Lotion is suitable for use in adults and children above the age of 12 years. It should be applied once or twice daily to the affected area after cleaning and drying the skin, continuing treatment for at least 2 to 4 weeks or as directed by a healthcare professional to prevent recurrence. Common side effects are generally mild and may include local irritation, itching, or redness at the application site.
