Ketexa Cream contains Ketoconazole 2% w/w, an antifungal agent belonging to the imidazole class, indicated for the topical treatment of various fungal infections of the skin. Ketoconazole exerts its therapeutic effect by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, thereby disrupting membrane integrity and leading to fungal cell death. Ketexa Cream is primarily used in the management of dermatophytosis, candidiasis, and pityriasis versicolor. It is also effective against seborrheic dermatitis associated with Malassezia species. The cream formulation facilitates ease of application and ensures adequate skin penetration. Ketexa Cream should be applied once or twice daily to the affected area after cleansing and drying the skin, with the duration of therapy typically ranging from 2 to 4 weeks depending on the severity and type of infection. Patients are advised to avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Common adverse effects may include local irritation, burning sensation, or erythema at the application site, which are generally mild and transient. Ketexa Cream is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to ketoconazole or any cream excipients. Use during pregnancy and lactation should be under medical supervision.
