Ketax Lotion contains Ketoconazole 2% w/v, an effective antifungal agent used topically to treat a variety of fungal infections of the skin. Ketoconazole belongs to the imidazole class of antifungals and works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, thereby disrupting cell membrane integrity and leading to fungal cell death. Ketax Lotion is indicated for the treatment of superficial mycoses such as dermatophytosis, pityriasis versicolor, and candidiasis of the skin.

It is also effective against seborrheic dermatitis due to its antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties. The lotion formulation allows for easy application on affected areas, promoting rapid absorption and sustained antifungal activity. Ketax Lotion should be applied once or twice daily to the affected area after cleansing, and treatment duration typically ranges from 2 to 4 weeks depending on the severity and type of infection.
Patients should avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Adverse effects are generally mild and may include local irritation, itching, or redness. Ketax Lotion is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to ketoconazole or any of the formulation excipients. It is important to complete the full course of therapy to prevent recurrence and resistance.
