Ketax-B Lotion is a topical pharmaceutical formulation containing Beclometasone dipropionate (0.025% w/v), a potent corticosteroid, combined with Ketoconazole (2% w/v), an effective antifungal agent. This combination is indicated for the treatment of inflammatory dermatoses complicated by or associated with fungal infections, such as seborrheic dermatitis, eczema with secondary fungal colonization, and other mixed inflammatory and fungal skin conditions. Beclometasone exerts anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects by modulating the release of inflammatory mediators and suppressing immune responses, thereby reducing redness, swelling, and itching. Ketoconazole acts by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, leading to fungal cell death and resolution of infection. Ketax-B Lotion should be applied topically to the affected area once or twice daily as prescribed, ensuring the skin is clean and dry before application. Treatment duration should be limited to the shortest period necessary to minimize potential corticosteroid-related adverse effects such as skin atrophy, telangiectasia, or hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis suppression. It is contraindicated in viral infections, acne, rosacea, and hypersensitivity to any component. Caution is advised in pediatric and pregnant patients. Adverse reactions may include local irritation, burning, or dryness.
