Kepran-D Tablet is a combination medication containing Domperidone 10 mg and Pantoprazole 40 mg, formulated to manage gastrointestinal disorders characterized by acid reflux and delayed gastric emptying. Domperidone, a dopamine D2 receptor antagonist, enhances gastrointestinal motility by increasing the movement of the stomach and intestines, thereby facilitating gastric emptying and alleviating symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and bloating. Pantoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor, effectively suppresses gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system in the gastric parietal cells, providing relief from acid-related conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. The synergistic action of these two agents addresses both the motility and acid secretion components of upper gastrointestinal disorders, improving patient outcomes. Kepran-D is indicated for the treatment of symptomatic GERD, dyspepsia, and other acid-peptic diseases accompanied by delayed gastric emptying. It is generally well tolerated; however, patients should use it under medical supervision, especially those with cardiac conditions or electrolyte imbalances, due to potential side effects such as QT prolongation associated with Domperidone.
