K20 Cream contains Ketoconazole 2% w/w, an imidazole antifungal agent effective against a broad spectrum of dermatophytes, yeasts, and other fungi. It is primarily indicated for the topical treatment of superficial fungal infections such as tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea pedis, and pityriasis versicolor. Ketoconazole exerts its antifungal activity by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, leading to increased membrane permeability and ultimately fungal cell death. K20 Cream is applied once or twice daily to the affected area and surrounding skin, with the duration of treatment typically ranging from 2 to 4 weeks depending on the severity and type of infection. It is important to cleanse and dry the affected area thoroughly before application to enhance drug absorption and efficacy. Adverse effects are generally mild and may include local irritation, burning sensation, or itching at the site of application. K20 Cream should be used with caution in patients with known hypersensitivity to ketoconazole or any of the cream’s excipients. It is not intended for ophthalmic, oral, or intravaginal use. Patients are advised to avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes during treatment.
